Leadership

Our Leaders

Cub Scout Pack 887 depends on a dedicated set of volunteers to support our Scouts. These parents and representatives from our Charter Organization help us to deliver a quality, year-round program.

“Success in training the [Scout] depends largely on the Scoutmaster’s own personal example.”

— Robert Baden-Powell

Meet Our Leaders

Cubmaster - Jim Toomey

Jim is the Cub Master for Pack 887. Jim has four children, three of which are in Scouting programs currently. Jim was the Den Leader for his son from Tigers through Arrow of Light, then returned to be the Den Leader for his daughter until transitioning to Cub Master. While he never had the opportunity to be a Scout in his youth, Jim thinks the ideals of Scouting, including confidence, individualism, and teamwork are crucial for youth and adults!

When not Scouting, Jim works as a litigator providing defense for employers in workers’ compensation cases in Illinois and Indiana. He also enjoys rooting on his three daughters and son in sporting activities and dance, as well as being an optimistic supporter of the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks (to a fault).

Assistant Cubmaster - TBD

Committee Chair - Leilani Antonio

Leilani is a proud Scout mom! Her oldest is a Scout with Troop 8, her daughter is a Junior Girl Scout with Troop 55693, and her youngest son is a Tiger with Pack 887. Leilani joined Pack 887 when her oldest son joined the Wolf Den in 2015. For 2 years, starting in 2018, she served as the pack’s Advancement and Training Coordinator. 2020 is her first year as the Committee Chair. She also serves on the committee for Troop 8 and is Co-Leader of her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop. Leilani believes that Scouting provides a foundation for character development, teaches children important life skills, welcomes the whole family, and provides families with fun and and unique experiences!

Advancement Coordinator - Jackie Schneider

Jackie’s family has been part of Pack 887 since 2018. She has one Wolf and one Webelos Scout. Jackie enjoys the “family pack” mantra that 887 utilizes. She enjoys going on neighborhood walks, traveling, spending time with friends, and bonfires. Jackie also serves on the PTA Executive Board at her children’s elementary school. Scouting is a big part of her family’s life.

Treasurer - Keith Irby

Keith Irby is the father of Tiago. He was a Cub Scout and is now passing on his knowledge to the next generation. He enjoys outdoor activities and Aikido.

Arrow of Light Den Leader - Efrain Garcia

Efrain Garcia is proud of his scout family. His oldest is a scout in Troop 889 and youngest is Diego in Pack 887. Prior to joining 889 he came from Pack 447 where he held positions such as Advancement Chair from 2016-2018, Popcorn Kernal from 2018-2021 and Den Leader from Lion to Bear. In both high school and college, Efrain was involved in the JROTC and ROTC programs. He is looking forward to bringing his experience to the cub scout program.

He welcomes adventure as he has had a chance to drive track day cars on a race track, climb pyramids in Mexico, scuba dive, and swim with sharks (uncaged).

Arrow of Light Assistant Den Leader - Jonnie Fitzgerald

Jonnie loves the outdoors, being in nature and exploring. She has two boys ages 7 and 4. They spend their time getting to know the community, seeking service opportunities, and trying out all that life has to offer.

Jonnie is currently home with her boys while figuring out school options this year, but until recently she was employed at the Bolingbrook Park District as a swim lesson supervisor and swim instructor for three years. Prior to that, she spent 12 years working in online and start up college environments as a director of financial aid administration. Jonnie has a BA in English and an MBA with accounting emphasis.

Webelos Den Leader - Dave Hammond

Dave is father to Ben (AOL Scout) and Will (Bear Scout). He lives in the Cedar Glen neighborhood in Naperville. His boys attend Spring Brook Elementary. Dave and Linda led Will’s Pack 887 Lion Den in 2019. Ben and Will have really enjoyed their Cub Scout experience. Given that so many things these days complete for their children’s attention, Dave and Linda love that Scouting gives them a chance to shift their focus toward the outdoors and service to others and their community. It is a great organization and Dave hopes that you’ll consider making your family a part of it!
